Overview

MAX1473 The MAX1472 transmitter and receiver reference design (RD) is an independent evaluation platform that uses these two products as a remote keyless entry (RKE) demonstration system. With the use of the MAXQ®USB-JTAG interface board (MAXQJTAG-USB), the transmitter key board and receiver board of the MAXQ610 microcontroller can be programmed by the end user.

A simple interface provides a transmitter (Tx) board, including 4 independent momentary switches and LED user feedback. The Tx board includes a built-in printed circuit board (PCB) antenna and uses a single CR2032 button battery. The receiver (Rx) board includes a momentary switch and 5 LEDs connected to the microcontroller. The SMA connector is set to connect various Rx antennas, allowing users to test different designs. The receiver is powered by a pair of AAA batteries.

Tx and Rx boards can be used as yes. Gerber files can simply cut and paste the RF part of the design or be fully implemented.

Quick start

Unpack two boards (Tx and Rx) out of the box and install two CR2032 AAA batteries.

The antenna will be received.

Press and hold the SW-PWR key for about 4 seconds, then the LED on the Rx board flashes and then release the button.

Press TX on any button (this will "pair" the two boards).

Press any button to match the Tx Rx LED fill light.

As a demonstration platform, the MAX1472 transmitter and MAX1473 receiver are designed with LFRD001. The goal of this reference design is a low cost, low BOM RF link. The transmitter and receiver are equipped with the MAXQ610 which is pre-programmed to operate the microcontroller as an RKE demo system.

These two graphics cards are designed to allow end users to program the MAXQ610 through the JTAG interface. To make demonstrators more flexible, the JTAG edge connector can be broken off of two circuit boards, which can accommodate a smaller one. At its smallest, the TX board is 1 inch, x1.75 inches (2.54 cm by 4.45 cm) and the Rx board is 1 inch by 2.4 inches (2.54 cm by 6.1 cm). The Rx board can be configured as a display LED, either flush with the PCB itself (such as mounting) or with the swing out part included. With the latter option, users can install the LED vertically (or remote cable installation) for better visual effects.
