Application and Control of Intelligent Motor Protector in Airport

Abstract: According to the investigation and debugging of the actual situation of an airport, the causes of frequent damage to the vacuum pump motor of the airport and the burning of the coil are found out. The motor protector is used to effectively protect the motor. This paper focuses on the ARD3T intelligent motor protector of Ankerui Electric Co., Ltd., which realizes the intelligent comprehensive protection of the motor, integrating measurement, protection, control and communication for reference in engineering design.

I. Overview:

As the most widely used equipment, the electric motor is also the power source of other electromechanical equipment, which makes the normal operation of the electric motor become the premise of the normal operation of the electromechanical equipment driven by it. As an important part of the drag system, the motor protector plays a comprehensive protection and control role for the motor, realizing the remote communication, telemetry, remote adjustment, remote control, fault diagnosis and the industrial production process and its large mechanical equipment. Centralized online monitoring and other functions [1, 2]. Nowadays, the reliability and safety of the motor protector are constantly improving and the functions are more perfect. It has been widely used in most fields of power consumption, and has an important position and significant role in energy conservation and economic undertakings.

The airport's vacuum pump motor is a large-scale application of the airport, which further affects the normal operation of the airport. Therefore, the normal operation of the vacuum pump motor is crucial for the airport. The airport belongs to a large flow of people and needs continuous operation throughout the day. Therefore, the reliability and stability of the vacuum pump motor are extremely high. Once the control loop fails, the cause of the fault must be found immediately and the fault should be eliminated in time. To ensure the normal operation of the airport work.

Because the vacuum pump has high requirements on its working environment, when the exhaust pressure of the vacuum pump is too high, the motor will be overloaded. If there is no certain overload protection, the motor will work under such conditions for a long time and it is easy to be damaged. Therefore, if the vacuum pump motor, which is an important part of its control loop, frequently fails, this poses a serious safety hazard to normal production activities. An airport uses ARD3T intelligent motor protector to collect three-phase current, leakage current, voltage, and other parameters in the line to realize real-time monitoring, protection, and control of the motor. Second, the requirements of an airport for the vacuum pump motor controller

The airport has a large area and the entire terrain is long and narrow. The entire airport needs to be spread over the motor control system, including the main building such as the terminal building, office area, dining area, airport runway, etc. Therefore, the vacuum pump motor used in the airport needs to run continuously in part, and some need to cope with it. In the case of continuous non-stop operation, once the vacuum pump motor starts to work, it is not allowed to trip and stop. Especially in the case of sudden situations, once the trip is stopped, it may cause serious accidents to the airport. And the airport personnel bring huge economic losses, and it is easy to cause casualties.

The airport adopts the display module of ARD3T intelligent motor controller, which can observe the voltage, current, frequency and other parameters of the vacuum pump motor and the running status of the motor in real time. At the same time, the information can be sent at the fastest speed through the communication function of the controller. Give the background and send an alarm signal to the fault information, so that the operator can find the cause of the fault and eliminate the fault in time.

Therefore, the requirements for an air pump motor controller at an airport are as follows:

1) Protection function: realize protection against motor start timeout, overload, stall, phase failure, unbalance, underload, ground/leakage, blockage, overvoltage, undervoltage, winding overtemperature, etc.

2) Temperature measurement function: to achieve multi-channel temperature measurement, can access PT100, PT1000, Cu50, PTC/NTC and other sensors;

3) Display function: display the motor running parameters in real time through the split liquid crystal display module;

4) Communication function: With Modbus-RTU/Profibus-DP communication interface, information transmission is carried out with the host computer.

Third, the description of the intelligent motor controller

The intelligent motor protector is a motor intelligent protection control unit with international level at home, and it has a certain representativeness in China. ARD3T intelligent motor protector can be divided into main module, measurement module, switch module, analog module, temperature module, communication module, display module and other 7 modules, of which the main module and measurement module are mandatory modules, called basic Modules, add-on modules are bus-powered and do not require an external auxiliary power supply. It can be directly installed and used in low-voltage control terminal cabinets and various drawer cabinets of 1/4 module and above.

Basic module: ARD3T intelligent motor controller can be programmed to realize 4-channel switch input and output to realize the starting, stopping and debugging of the motor. The current measurement range can reach 0.4A~800A, and the current transformer is standard as standard below 100A (see Figure 1 for the ARD3T product block diagram below 100A). The current measurement is realized by an external current transformer above 100A.

Switching module: It can realize the expansion of the switch of the main module. DI supports passive contact (weak current) or active contact (strong) input, and the active contact can be AC ​​or DC.

Analog module: This module converts the AC current, voltage, frequency and other parameters into a DC 4-20mA signal and transmits it to the PLC or DCS system to provide important data for PLC or DCS automatic control design.

Temperature module: Three-way temperature measurement is available, and optional sensor types: PT100, PT1000, Cu50, PTC/NTC. The three-way sensors can be of the same type or different types. When the sensor type is: PT100, PT1000, Cu50, the display value and protection value are in °C; when the sensor type is: PTC or NTC, the display value and protection value are in Ω.

Communication module: With Modbus-RTU communication/Profibus-DP communication function, it is used for system networking, realizes self-control or transmits protection data to the computer in real time to realize on-line centralized monitoring and management of the motor.

Display module: Real-time monitoring of the current motor operation and three-phase current, voltage, power, motor power and other parameters through the display module, real-time monitoring function; once the motor fails, the protection device delays after a period of time to control the main The contactor coil loses power and controls the motor to stop accurately.

As shown in the typical application scheme of the project in Fig. 2, the changeover switch SA is adjusted to realize the selection of the manual/automatic/stop control mode of the control loop. The manual mode is completed by the operator on the spot, and the automatic mode is the RS485 communication through the protector. The interface realizes remote control of the motor, and the motor cannot be started in the stop mode. In the manual mode, press the start button SB1, the soft starter works to control the bypass circuit to start operation (the bypass circuit is not shown), and the ARD3T intelligent motor protector reads the current transformer LH and the leakage current transformer LP. Detection value, protector temperature measurement port collects motor bearing temperature and motor coil temperature in real time, and sends these parameters to the host computer through RS485 communication interface. If the motor has start timeout, overload, stall, phase failure, unbalance, underload , ground / leakage, blocking, over voltage, under voltage, winding over temperature and other faults, the parameters read by the protector will change, at this time, the protector determines the cause of the circuit failure and controls the DO2 port output is zero, then KA2 The KA3 coil loses power, the vacuum pump stops working, and the protector control stop indicator light and the fault indicator light work, and the fault information is transmitted to the upper computer, and the circuit realizes intelligent control, protection and measurement of the motor.

In the case of an airport that requires long-term uninterrupted operation of the vacuum pump motor, the motor has a long-term electrical, thermal, mechanical, and chemical action, a large fluctuation in the power supply voltage, or a long-term operation in a high-temperature and high-humidity environment.
