The use and operation of S7-plcSIM should be carried out in the following steps.
1 Program the PLC user program through the STEP7 programmer.
2 Click the “Simulate ON/OFF” button on the STEP7 manager (the button pointed to by the mouse in Figure 14-3.1). Alternatively, open the S7-PLCSIM software via the "Options" - "Simulate Modes" operation of the SIMATIC Manager main menu.
Once the S7-PLCSIM application window is opened, the connection between the simulation CPU and the STEP 7 in S7-PLCSIM is automatically established. Normally, the simulated PLC power supply after turning on is turned on, the CPU is in STOP mode, and the scanning mode of the user program defaults to "continuous" scanning.
3 If the simulated PLC power supply after turning on is not turned on, the power of the simulated PLC can be turned on/off through the main menu "PLC" - "Power ON" or "Power OFF" of the S7-PLCSIM application window.
4 If the simulated PLC after opening is in RUN mode, the PLC should be in STOP mode by clicking on the CPU “Analog Panel” of the simulated PLC.
5 Open the project you want to simulate on the STEP7 manager and select the logic block you want to simulate.
6 On the main menu of the STEP7 Manager, click “PLC” - “Download” to execute the program download operation, and download the PLC user logic block that needs to be simulated to the CPU of the simulation PLC.
During the download process, STEP7 will prompt “Do you want to load the system data?”, which can be confirmed by the “Yes” button.
7 Select and open the object you want to simulate.
8 As required, click on the input object for the simulation and add the corresponding status signal for the simulation (see figure).

9 Click on the CPU "Analog Panel" of the simulated PLC to make the PLC in RUN mode.
10 Observe the status of the output object used for the simulation and check the execution of the PLC (see figure).
