Analysis of RF remote technology

Radio frequency extension is a technology that converts baseband signals into optical signals for transmission and amplifies them at the far end.
Efficient RRH (Radio Frequency Extension)
For most people, the term RRH may be rusty. The characteristic of RRH technology is that the base station can be divided into two parts: radio baseband control (RadioServer) and radio frequency extension. The wireless device part can be individually set remotely, thereby reducing the operator's capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operating cost (OPEX) while building the network flexibly.
Using RRH technology, various networks with star, tree, chain, ring and other structures can be constructed flexibly and effectively according to different environments. For example, the technology can be used to expand the capacity of crowded areas such as shopping malls, airports, and stations, as well as improve the coverage quality of areas where signals are difficult to reach, such as corporate headquarters, office buildings, or underground parking lots.
The reason why RRH technology is adopted by many equipment vendors is that 3G networks have advantages that other networks do not have. Separating a part of the previous base station module and separating RS (radio baseband control part) from RRH can simplify the tedious maintenance work to the RS end. Moreover, one RS can connect several RRHs, which not only saves space, but also reduces the installation cost and improves the networking efficiency. Moreover, the interface connecting the two uses optical fiber, which has less loss and can greatly reduce power consumption. In addition, for the interface, the methods adopted by the equipment vendors are different. It is worth mentioning that NEC's RRH is based on an open CPRI interface.
