International development trend of green lighting source LED lamps


With the increasing awareness of environmental protection, the problems of high power consumption and waste pollution of traditional lighting equipment have attracted the attention of governments of all countries, and they have invested a lot of money, manpower and material resources to develop new environmentally friendly light sources. LEDs with green lighting sources have become the active development direction of various countries due to their unique energy saving, long life, maintenance-free, easy to control and environmental protection. It is understood that the international semiconductor lighting industry has maintained a growth rate of 40% in recent years. It is estimated that the global light-emitting diode (LED) market will reach 5.6 billion US dollars in 2008. Faced with the huge business opportunities and encouraging development prospects of semiconductor lighting, countries around the world have taken action, and Japan, the United States, the European Union, and South Korea have invested heavily in the national semiconductor lighting plan.

Japan pioneered the 21st century lighting program in the world in 1998, aiming to reduce the energy efficiency of lighting by twice the cost of conventional fluorescent lamps by using long-lived, thinner and lighter GaN high-efficiency blue and ultraviolet LED technologies, reducing carbon dioxide production. In 2006, white light-emitting diode lighting was used to replace 50% of traditional lighting. The program was initiated and organized by the Japan Metal Research and Development Center and the New Energy Industry Technology Development Organization. The participating institutions include 4 universities, 13 companies and an association. The budget for the entire program is 6 billion yen. From 1998-2002, it was the first target of investing 5 billion yen and has been completed. Now, Japan is implementing the second phase of the plan, and by 2010, the luminous efficiency of LEDs will reach 120 lm/w.

The US National Semiconductor Lighting Research Project was developed by the US Department of Energy and plans to invest $500 million in semiconductor lighting in 10 years. The participants include 13 national key laboratories, companies and universities. The purpose of the program is to make the United States ahead of competitors in Japan, Europe and South Korea in the future competition in the lighting source market. The planned time nodes are 20 lm/w in 2002, 75 lm/w in 2007, and 150 lm/w in 2012. From 2000 to 2020, the US semiconductor lighting plan is expected to achieve the following results: the cumulative efficiency and saving potential will reduce the discharge of 258 million tons of carbon pollutants; the construction of 133 new power plants; the estimated 55% by 2010 Incandescent and fluorescent lamps have been replaced by semiconductor lamps; by 2025, the use of solid-state lighting sources will reduce lighting power by half, saving $35 billion annually; cumulative savings of $115 billion; and an annual production value of more than 50 billion The US dollar's semiconductor lighting industry market; bringing high-quality millions of jobs.
