NVIDIA: 28nm Kepler soon mass production

NVIDIA: 28nm Kepler soon mass production Although there are many rumors about Kepler's news, NVIDIA officials have almost never published comments. Perhaps the recent earnings figures are indeed good-looking. CEO Huang Renxun broke his silence in an analyst-oriented conference call and stated that NVIDIA plans to win more orders through Kepler's core notebook GPUs and will start mass production soon.

Huang Renxun said that NVIDIA has already won a lot of orders in Ivy Bridge-based notebooks, and the company is trying to obtain an "unprecedented" number of contracts through Kepler. But he also pointed out that in the fourth quarter, NVIDIA needed to spend an extra amount of money on 28nm technology production and design. At present, NVIDIA engineers have been stationed in major notebook OEM/ODM vendors to help them better integrate the Kepler GPU with the entire system.

Similar to many previous reports, Huang Renxun confirmed that the 28nm Kepler notebook GPU chip has been taped out and soon began mass production. It is expected to be officially released in early 2012. It seems that the large-scale adoption of Kepler's notebooks will be listed in batches with Intel Ivy Bridge at the same time.
