The 9-inch LED streetlight in Brooklyn Park near Minneapolis, Minnesota, will be tested by Xcel Energy, a midwestern US power service provider, for the first time, testing the company's LED products near residential areas for the first time. The street light is 26 feet high and is manufactured by Relume Technologies.
Xcel Energy said that as part of the pilot program, the LED streetlight will be tested for one year to observe its performance under various weather conditions. In addition, the light output and clarity of the LED street light will be tested. Xcel Energy also plans to collect public comments on new LED street lights.
