Taiwan’s Chi Mei Electronics announced the change of company name on October 29, 2012. The name of the new company is Innolux. The date of the change has not been determined.
CMI was born in 2010 by Chi Mei Optoelectronics, Foxconn Group's Innolux Display and small and medium-sized panel specialist TPO Displays. Chi Mei and Hon Hai Group, well-known for ABS resin manufacturers, are their two major shareholders, but in June 2012, Chi Mei Industrial resigned as a director. The background is that Chi Mei's performance has deteriorated and Chi Mei Industrial is no longer focusing on the LCD panel business.
Chi Mei said, "We are no longer a professional manufacturer of LCD panels or LCD modules." It is said that Chi Mei is building a high-resolution medical display business. Chi Mei has been doing business such as replacing the personnel in the procurement department with those from Innolux, and handing over the TV ODM business to Hon Hai and other business adjustments. In the future, Innolux will reorganize the manufacturing department (factory).
