Too will play! Microsoft Builds Tree House Office for Employees: Working on the Tree

According to a report from CNBC on October 14th, Microsoft employees are now being encouraged to work in the trees. The tech giant has constructed a unique treehouse at its Raymond Park campus, serving as both a conference space and a relaxed working environment. This innovative setup reflects Microsoft's growing focus on outdoor workspaces that blend creativity with nature. The Microsoft Tree House stands over 12 feet (3.7 meters) above the ground and is designed with a rustic charm. It features charred wood walls, skylights that let in natural light, a gas fireplace for warmth, and even WiFi access and hidden electrical outlets. Employees can also enjoy meals in an outdoor extension of the cafeteria, making it a perfect spot for both work and relaxation. This treehouse was created by Pete Nelson, a renowned treehouse builder featured in the documentary "Tree House Master," and is part of Microsoft's broader initiative to expand its outdoor workspace options. The company believes that moving work outdoors encourages employees to rethink their working habits and fosters more creative collaboration. Microsoft highlights that such environments can enhance creativity, improve concentration, and increase overall comfort. While not every company has the luxury of a 500-acre forested campus filled with green spaces and wildlife, Microsoft is taking full advantage of its unique setting. Currently, two-thirds of the treehouses have been completed and are already in use, with the remaining third expected to be finished later this year. This project not only sets a new standard for workplace innovation but also showcases how nature can inspire productivity and well-being in the modern office.
