Too will play! Microsoft Builds Tree House Office for Employees: Working on the Tree

According to a report from CNBC on October 14th, Microsoft employees are now encouraged to work in the trees. The tech giant has constructed a unique treehouse on its Raymond Park campus, serving as both a conference space and a relaxed working environment. This innovative setup is part of Microsoft's ongoing efforts to blend nature with modern work culture. The Microsoft Tree House stands over 12 feet (3.7 meters) above the ground and is built with charred wood walls, skylights, a gas fireplace, WiFi access, and hidden electrical outlets. Employees can even enjoy meals in an outdoor extension of the cafeteria, making it a fully functional and comfortable workspace. Designed by Pete Nelson, the renowned treehouse builder featured in the documentary "Tree House Master," this structure is part of Microsoft’s growing initiative to create more outdoor workspaces. The company believes that moving work outdoors encourages employees to rethink their daily routines and fosters new ways of thinking and collaborating. Microsoft highlights that working in natural environments can boost creativity, focus, and overall well-being. While many companies may not have the luxury of a 500-acre forest with plenty of greenery and wildlife, Microsoft is leveraging its unique setting to offer something truly special. So far, two-thirds of the treehouses have been completed and are already in use. The remaining third is expected to be finished later this year. It’s safe to say that this project isn’t just about innovation—it’s also about making work feel more like play, all while surrounded by nature.
