Step 1: Prepare the electrolytic cell. Gently shake the electrolytic cell of the trace moisture analyzer a few times to ensure that any water on the inner walls is fully absorbed by the electrolyte. Then place the cell into the holder, turn on the stirring switch, adjust the speed so that a small vortex forms on the surface of the liquid.
Insert the measuring electrode plug and the electrolysis electrode plug into their respective sockets on the main unit, ensuring good contact. Turn on the electrolysis switch. Note: In the iodine-rich state, the measurement signal indicator and electrolysis signal indicator will both be off, with only one red light illuminated. The digital display should not be counting at this point.
Step 2: Adjust the electrolyte balance.
If the electrolytic cell remains in a deep iodine state, use a 10 µL micro-injector to draw 10 µL of distilled water each time. Wipe the needle with filter paper, press the start button, and inject the water into the cell through the central hole of the injection cock. Continuously observe the color change of the electrolyte until it turns pale yellow, and both the measurement and electrolysis signal indicators turn green. At this point, the counter should start counting. (With fresh electrolyte and a dry bottle, about 30–50 µL of water may be needed.)
Wait for the counting to stop, then turn off the stirring, remove the electrolytic cell, and gently shake it a few times to ensure all moisture is absorbed. Once the end alarm sounds, the instrument is ready for calibration.
Step 3: Calibrate the trace moisture analyzer.
Once the electrolyte is stable, use a 0.3 µL micro-injector to draw 0.3 µL of distilled water. Wipe the needle with filter paper, press the start button, and inject the water below the liquid surface. The instrument will begin counting and reach the endpoint, displaying a result of 300 ± 30 µg of water. Perform this calibration 2–3 times, and if the readings fall within the acceptable range, the instrument is accurate and ready for use.
