According to the "Wall Street Journal" report, Xiaomi Chairman Lei Jun said in Wuzhen on Wednesday that achieving the target of 80 million smartphone sales this year is not the first priority of Xiaomi.
At present, many people are wondering whether Xiaomi can achieve the sales target of 80 million smartphones this year. Today, Lei Jun said in an interview at the 2015 World Internet Conference that this is not the top priority for Xiaomi.
When asked if "Millet can achieve 80 million smartphone sales targets this year," Lei Jun said: "This goal is not our number one priority, and we are most concerned about user satisfaction."
Lei Jun said that he does not value sales targets. But earlier this year, it was often hoped that he would give Xiaomi sales figures. As a result, Lei Jun announced in July this year that 34.7 million smartphones were sold in the first half of the year. In contrast, Xiaomi sold 61.1 million smartphones in 2014 and sold 18.7 million in 2013.
Through low-cost, innovative flash sales model, already viral marketing, Xiaomi experienced explosive growth. IDC data shows that in the third quarter of this year, Xiaomi became the fifth largest smartphone manufacturer in the world.
But at present, Xiaomi has experienced fierce market competition, and the growth rate of mobile phone sales has begun to slow down. This has led many people to doubt whether Xiaomi can achieve the sales target of 80 million smartphones this year.
Due to the slow growth of the domestic mobile phone market, Xiaomi has begun to expand into the international market and has teamed up with partners to develop new products such as air purifiers and self-balancing scooters.
Lei Jun said: "For Xiaomi, what we need now is to return to the original state, like a startup. We must continue to provide a good user experience and products."
Regarding Xiaomi's lack of focus on sales targets, Lei Jun said that Xiaomi's management principle is to avoid core performance indicators (KPIs).
