Technical home made 2016 the most romantic gift: DIY robot (with tutorial)

FacebookCEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote an article on Facebook's personal page over the weekend, unveiling his big goal for 2016: developing artificial intelligence technology that controls the home environment.

Every year, I accept personal challenges, learn new things, and grow outside of Facebook's work. In recent years, the challenges I have set include reading two books a month, learning Chinese, and meeting a new friend every day.

In 2016, my personal challenge was to develop simple artificial intelligence technology, control the home environment, and assist me in my work. This is similar to Jarvis, an artificial intelligence assistant in Iron Man.

In the beginning, I will learn what kind of technology is available in the market. Later, I will teach the artificial intelligence assistant to understand my voice to control everything in the home, including music, lighting and temperature. I will teach it to recognize the facial pictures of friends and let them enter when the friends ring the doorbell. I will teach it to remind me that when I did not accompany my daughter, McCos, what happened in her room required me to check it out. With regard to work, it will enable data visualization through virtual reality, helping me to develop better services and lead my organization more effectively.

Every challenge has a theme, and this year's theme is invention.

On Facebook, I spent a lot of time working with engineers to develop new products. I gained a lot of insight into the details of the technology project. About Internet.org, we explore the development of solar-powered aircraft and satellites to provide Internet access services; for Oculus, we will learn the details of the controllers or software involved; for Messenger, we discuss answering your questions through artificial intelligence. But self-developed products will bring a completely different harvest. Therefore, my personal challenge this year is to do this.

Writing code for me is an interesting intellectual challenge. I am looking forward to sharing with you after a year of study.
