Linear Technology Corporation introduced the LTC3105, a high-performance synchronous boost converter featuring a maximum power point controller (MPPC). This device can start up with as low as 250mV input voltage and operates across an ultra-wide input range of 0.2V to 5V, making it perfect for energy harvesting from high-impedance sources like solar cells, thermoelectric generators (TEGs), and fuel cells.
The LTC3105 includes an internal 400mA synchronous switch that boosts efficiency, while its Burst Mode® operation ensures a quiescent current of just 22µA. This feature is especially beneficial in applications where power consumption must be minimized. The MPPC allows users to set a specific operating point, ensuring maximum energy extraction without causing voltage drops in the source.
This IC is ideal for low-power wireless sensor and data acquisition systems. It enables energy harvesting from ambient or excess energy sources, reducing reliance on traditional batteries or wired power. These systems often require very low average power but may need occasional high-current pulses, such as during sensor activation or data transmission. The LTC3105 efficiently handles these varying load conditions.
The LTC3105 also features an auxiliary LDO that provides up to 6mA of output current to power external microcontrollers or sensors while the main output charges. When fully charged, the main output can supply up to 5.25V and 100mA. Additionally, the device can regulate VOUT even when VIN is higher than or equal to VOUT, offering greater design flexibility. During shutdown, it disconnects the output, isolating VIN and VOUT with a mere 4µA quiescent current.
Packaged in a compact 3mm x 3mm DFN (or MSOP-12) package, the LTC3105 uses minimal external components, making it ideal for space-constrained energy harvesting designs. The LTC3105EDD comes in a 10-lead DFN package, while the LTC3105EMS is available in an MSOP-12 package. Both versions are in stock, with a price of $2.70 per unit for 1,000-piece orders. ELCB is an acronym for Earth leakage circuit breaker, which is a device placed inside a water heater, commonly referred to as ELCB electric leakage breaker. This circuit breaker has the function of disconnecting the device from the circuit whenever an electrical leak occurs through the human body when touching the electrical parts of the device.
ELCB is to limit the incident of electric shock inside the machine, disconnecting the power when there is a problem, ensuring safety for human life as well as fire and explosion prevention.
How many types of ELCB?
ELCB is often used in both civil and industrial applications.
For the domestic electricity system, the installation problem is not difficult, but in industry, the anti-shock for workers and the prevention of electrical leakage for electrical equipment with large capacity requires a bridge. Automatic anti-shock, high-power leakage protection, and often has a much higher price.
