On June 30th, Midea Group announced in Yingtan, Jiangxi that the US-based NEC Group and Jiangxi Guixi City signed a strategic cooperation agreement, while Midea Lighting Electric acquired the local Guiya Lighting Co., Ltd.
Zhang Wuli, general manager of Midea Lighting, said, “The capital of this merger is nearly 200 million yuan, and after the merger, Midea’s lighting will be invested 500 million yuan in the next few years.â€
Midea's acquisition of Guiya Lighting has a capacity of 50 million integrated energy-saving lamps. It is the largest light source manufacturing base in Jiangxi Province and has more than 280 sales networks nationwide.
The lighting electrical industry has been listed by Midea Group as a strategic emerging industry for the next five years. Midea Group entered the field of lighting in 2009 and established three production bases for lamps, light sources and electricians in Shunde.
According to the data provided by the China Lighting Industry Association, the total size of the domestic lighting industry in 2009 has reached 38 billion US dollars, but the scale of leading companies such as Philips and NVC has not reached 3 billion yuan.
Midea's acquisition of light sources is only the first step, and then the United States will expand in a variety of ways in the fields of lighting, commercial lighting, home lighting, low-voltage electrical, LED lighting and upstream components. â€
Previously, Philips' layout in the field of lighting was completed in more than 20 mergers and acquisitions by investing 5 billion euros in the entire industry chain of light sources, chips and substrate materials.
